Casinos in Mozambique

[ English ]

The basic deficiency in the numbers of, Mozambique’s casinos is in one sense somewhat puzzling, in one way or another.

In years before now, the territory was a spot where numerous South Africans would drop by to be away from the astonishingly confining policies on casino gambling (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. For these reasons, you may think of something of a developing spot to cater to that tourist industry.

On the other hand, perhaps it isn’t really a bombshell. The region is one of the most deficient world wide, having gone through a horrifying civil war (followed by damaging floods) from which it is still, very slowly, coming around. This is liable to make a region a lot less of a tourist destination, though there is at the moment a flourishing setting along a couple of the region’s attractive beaches.

It is added to that credible that regionally at the very least, Mozambique’s casinos have had to contend with others in the newly liberalized South Africa, inclusive of the recognized Sun City founded by the Kerzner family corporation.

Here is a list of Casinos in Mozambique:

Maputo: Polana Casino Hotel

There are 78 slot machines as well as video poker games, five tables of American roulette, four blackjack tables, in addition a poker table.

Namaacha: Sol Libombos Hotel Casino

There are 40 slot machines, American roulette, and also 2 tables for poker and also punto banco.

It is thought that over time the full tourism sector in Mozambique will build greatly. While the local languages are, obviously, African, there is in addition the portion of Portuguese from the old colonial power and the new and accelerating origin of English, both from South Africa and as part of the world-wide phenomenon. The country is quite cheap (obviously, as it is so poor) and as above, has some of the most outstanding beaches on the globe, fronting onto the Indian Ocean. Those are the kinds of assets that make tourism agents drool, and as the country elevates out of its current slump, it is likely that not only will tourism grow, but that the list of Mozambique’s casinos will grow longer as well.

While the country is unlikely to ever reclaim its reputation as a focal point for partying South Africans, as there are now other alternatives closer to home for them to revel in, the development of a long distance tourism industry is being planned. This would be to oblige Europeans seeking winter sun, as a retreat from the gloominess of the Northern Hemisphere winter. Additionally, evidently, the best prawns (shrimp) on the planet derive from just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
