Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is not allowed. Eight casinos are based in a relatively small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a prime area, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; however, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 17:00, and despite the fact visas are allegedly needed to pass, there are means around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling hall, contains 150 slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slots and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel complex that contains a number of luxuries on top of the gambling hall, which contains ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
