Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is not allowed. Eight casinos are established in a generally tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent location, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are allegedly required to cross, there are ways around this, as is true of many borders.

The original Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the normal table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive resort and hotel building that contains numerous amenities in addition to the gambling hall, which contains ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machines and eighty eight gaming tables.
